At the end of 2021, I joined my new chess club, the SC Höchstadt in Germany. Although I live in North Rein Westphalia and the club is based in Bavaria, I decided to join anyways because the great online activities of the club convinced me to. Besides that, I found the players at the club all very friendly!
For the district championship, which was postponed due to the Corona pandemic, an online tournament was held in January 2022. As a reigning world champion, expectations were high… Although we played an unfamiliar time mode for me at the time (rapid chess, 15 minutes), I was able to find good moves and feel comfortable in my positions quickly. I managed to defeat one opponent after the other winning the tournament with a fantastic 7/7! I was overwhelmed with the results and my victory and since then I’m always looking forward to all the tournaments my fantastic club holds.
